About Bursa

Bursa served as the first major capital of the Ottoman Empire from 1326 to 1365, leaving a dense collection of early Ottoman architecture concentrated especially in the Yıldırım district. The city covers around 11,000 km², extending to coastal districts like Mudanya and Gemlik. Mudanya’s beaches and Gemlik’s EU-protected olives contrast with the snow-covered slopes of Uludağ, Türkiye’s main ski area during the colder months.
